The annual gala of Hungarian State Opera took place on 22 February 2020 at the Erkel Theatre. Special guest star of the evening was Nino Machaidze, one of the most sought-after sopranos of our time, making her debut in Budapest.
On 2 March 2019, the Opera organised its annual gala permeated this time with Puccini and Italy. The programme featured Sonya Yoncheva, who made her Budapest debut at the Erkel Theatre.
Following the closure of the Budapest Opera House, the annual gala night of the Opera took place at the Erkel Theatre on 10 February 2018. As the season focused on Wagner, his works and composers inspired by him, the event was entitled Ring Gala.
Nearly 1000 guests got the chance to watch Ildebrando D'Arcangelo and Kristian Benedikt take the stage of the Hungarian State Opera at the Háry Gala on 25 February, the second year for the annual event to be held in this new “total art” format at the Opera House.
Due to great demand by the public to see Plácido Domingo perform at the Budapest Opera House, the Shakespeare Ball is transformed into a Shakespeare Gala, which gives the opportunity to more than 1236 people to hear the Spanish star tenor perform.
With the Hungarian debut of international soprano Angela Gheorghiu and the participation of the greatest Hungarian figures of the world of sciences, the Hungarian State Opera organized the most prestigious event of integrated arts, the Faust Ball on 14 February 2015.
On 1 March 2014 the Hungarian State Opera organized the Silver Rose Ball with a charitable purpose: proceeds were raised for an ambulance to be purchased by the Hungarian National Emergency Ambulance Service.
